The Troy City Titans are a semi-pro football team representing Fall River. The team and nonprofit were founded in 2019 by Anthony Comer and Lawrence Winslow with the mission of utilizing semi-pro football to unite and strengthen the community of Fall River. The initial year was a community success attracting top level talent producing a winning team that went deep into playoffs. The team has been embraced by local businesses and the games are attended by hundreds of residents.
The team provides young men the opportunity to continue a football career after high school. It is one of the only programs in the area offering a positive atmosphere for underprivileged, inner-city athletes when the security, safety, and structure of high school ends. From the inception, the team's goal included creating youth programs to provide leadership and mentoring.
The Titans environment has already proven they can change the trajectory of young men by successfully having gang members lay down their colors to become a part of the team, made it possible for homeless to play, facilitated the process for youths in local resident homes getting awarded time to play, and provided numerous job opportunities to players through coach networking and contacts.
